An unusual village for the hotel architecture and decoration

In November 13-16, during HOTELIA fair – in parallel with PHILOXENIA fair – at the International Exhibition & Congress Center in Thessaloniki, DPOINT HOTEL VILLAGE welcome hundreds of visitors. Professionals from sectors such as architecture and interior decoration were present at the most contemporary and original hotel furniture and equipment showcase that has been ever held.
In the center of this pioneering and distinct “village”, 6 industrial designers and architects – Andreas Varotsos (industrial designer), Sotiris Lazou (industrial designer), Aspasia Taka (architect), Manolis Metrides (architect), Giorgos Pitarokilis (mechanical engineer, industrial designer) and Yannis Georgaras (industrial designer) – showed six hotel rooms of different style. Each one represented a different concept while at the same time responded to a public of different requirements. For the construction of the rooms, the designers and architects collaborated with production and material companies.

It is the first time that a project of such importance for the sector has taken place in Greece, under the co-organization of HELEXPO and the international platform INTERIORS FROM GREECE. Around these model rooms, dozens of companies which are active in the hotel equipment field, showed their latest products in stands of mutual construction and philosophy. Goal of this project was the creation of a uniform space where the exhibitor would cast the visitor’s eyes on the product itself and not on an impressive and expensive stand. On his part, the visitor would have the opportunity to look through the products easily and quickly and get in direct contact with the producers resulting DPOINT HOTEL VILLAGE to be the ultimate event for Public Relations. In this way, all attendants –participating companies, hotel executives, architects and decorators – had the chance to exchange useful ideas and information with aim to make their professional activity even more productive.

On Saturday, 15/11, there was also held the workshop DPOINT DESIGN TALKS. During the speeches, each creator talked in separate about the concept and the features of his project. The specific event led to a quite interesting conversation regarding how “Unique Design” can upgrade the overall image of Greek hotels. Additionally, certain thoughts were developed about its connection with the improvement of the services as well as the upgrading of the quality tourism. In a way, design may contribute in the support of modern culture of Greece as foreign visitors become positive “messengers” of the country’s contemporary image abroad.
On the last day of the fair, the DPOINT CONFERENCE took place. The main topic was “The Future of Hotel & Restaurant Design”. During the event, where representatives from the most significant architecture agencies in Greece, presented viewpoints and studies that substantially contribute in the overall image of the product. More thoroughly, the speakers were the following: Morpho Papanikolaou (Sparch Architects), Nikos Fletorides (Arch Group), Divercity Architects, Makridis Architects, Minas Kosmidis and A&M Architects. Therefore, with DPOINT HOTEL VILLAGE for starting point, a new and original product has made its presence having created the necessary base for the future.
